I love styling a kimono for summer and even transitioning it into fall because they are sooo versatile and affordable. In fact, every single one of these kimonos are from Amazon and are less than $20!! Amazon is my pretty much favorite place to purchase kimonos because they have a great variety to choose from along with great prices to match.
Styling a kimono for summer is super simple! This first outfit definitely showcases that with a basic pair of denim and a white knotted tee. Kimonos are a great way to add a pop of color to an otherwise neutral outfit like this.
A bodycon dress and a kimono go pretty much hand in hand to me. This is another way to add a pop of color to a basic black dress. The thing that I love with an outfit like this is the contrast of the tight fitting bodycon dress with the loose fitting kimono over top. You can also easily dress up or dress down this outfit depending on the kimono that you choose. Another plus is that if you’re not comfortable with showing your arms, this adds a bit of coverage without being too hot for summer.
This is another example of an otherwise basic outfit pushed to the next level by adding a kimono. With just a plain pair of denim shorts and a black knotted tee, this kimono adds the perfect bright pop of color! This another great way to style a kimono for summer if you’re not too comfortable with your thighs or legs. It gives you the ability to wear shorts and stay cool while staying a bit more covered with the kimono.
Lastly, this is another example of how to wear a kimono with a dress. This is just a t-shirt dress instead of a bodycon, but what’s different here is that instead of going for a neutral colored dress and adding a pop of color with a kimono, I chose a kimono that brought out the existing color within the dress.
Here is the video I did on YouTube all about how to style a kimono for summer!
