Hurricane season is upon us, so I thought I would show y’all what we got to put into our hurricane kit this year.
First, I want to share the video I made that gives a really in depth overview of what we put into our hurricane kits.
Water
Water, water, water. This is probably the most important thing for you to have in your hurricane kit. I recommend to get as much as possible, but we started off with two cases.
Food
The food we got to start our kit was –
- Tuna Pouches
- Chips
- Pop Tarts
- Granola Bars
- Canned Soups
- Canned Fruit
- Potted Meat
- Crackers
- Drink Mix Ins
Other food options to have in your kit –
- Peanut Butter
- Ramen Noodles
- Dry Cereal
Non Food
Non food options we have in our kit –

- The dollar tree has awesome unscented pillar candles that are perfect, especially if have to carry them around.
- Lighters
- Disposable Utensils
- Portable Charger
- We bought this Anker charger specifically for our hurricane kit. It has two charging ports and holds four full charges.
- Baby Wipes
- Flashlights

Helpful Tips
- Don’t Forget About Your Pets!
- Remember to have plenty of food, water, and treats for your pets. Make sure you’re also stocked on any medication they may need.
- Always Have A Bag Packed
- It’s good to have a bag packed with items for every member of your family in case you have to evacuate quickly.
- Have Cash On Hand
- Systems will be offline when the power goes out, so it’s a good idea to keep some cash handy.
- Fill Up Cars and Gas Cans
- Have all of your cars filled up as well as some gas cans, especially if you have a generator.
- Make Sure Prescriptions Are Filled
- If you or anyone in your family is on a prescription medication, make sure you have enough to last.
- Know Evacuation Routes
- Again, you may have to evacuate quickly.
